1. Take some time to ponder

Spend some time with your family on Christmas morning talking about the meaning of the season. Ask your children to think of a few things they are grateful for in the last year, and then spend some quiet time reflecting on all of the blessings in your life.

2. Spend quality time with family and friends.

Christmas is a time for the family, so spend the day with those who mean far more to you and show them how much you appreciate them. If you know somebody who is going through a rough patch or who is alone, invite them to join your family for the festivities. Nobody should spend The holidays alone.

3. The power to give

The joy of receiving is far outweighed by the gift of giving. There are so many ways to give, whether it's going to donate to a charity, cooking a little additional food to provide someone with a Christmas meal, or giving a gift to someone who would not have received it otherwise. My grandmother used to sew Barbie clothes for disadvantaged kids when I was a kid, and it's a trait I've always admired in her. Consider making food trays for the poor and needy, visiting the elderly, or visiting the sick in the hospital – after all, your time is one of the most valuable gifts you can give.
