3 Ways for Companies to Celebrate Womens Day!

So, to get you inspired, we’re sharing 3 different ideas companies of all sizes can get involved with and celebrate #IWD2022, showcasing women’s achievements, raising awareness against bias and taking action for equality.

#1 Get your staff involved in the #Breakthebias photo challenge for social media

This year's theme is #Breakthebias, with the following statement shared on the official International Women's Day website:

"Consider a world in which men and women are treated equally. A world without bias, stereotypes, or discrimination. A diverse, equitable, and inclusive world. A world in which diversity is valued and celebrated. We can achieve women's equality by working together. We can all work together to #BreakTheBias."

This year, IWD organisers are encouraging businesses to participate in the campaign by encouraging employees to take a photo of themselves striking the IWD 2022 pose and share your #BreakTheBias image, video, resources, presentation, or articles on social media using the hashtags #IWD2022 #BreakTheBias. This year's pose is simply crossing your arms to show solidarity.

#2 Organize or encourage your employees to participate in online panel discussions.

'She can't be it if she can't see it.' One of the best ways to get motivated to take action is to listen to women who have already walked the path share their life experiences, knowledge, and expert advice. This year, because the majority of the events will take place virtually rather than in person, there are many great online events planned for International Women's Day with fantastic speaker lineups.

While you're planning your company's celebrations, look into some interesting events in your industry or community and encourage your employees to register with you. The International Women's Day Event Showcase Page, where you can browse a variety of events, is a great place to start.

#3 The significance of a simple thank-you

We often overlook the impact that a simple 'thank you' can have on people. This is an excellent opportunity to thank and recognise the women on your team/organization for their hard work and dedication. After all, it's the small steps that count and contribute to the larger push for gender equality in the workplace.

So, whether it's a thank-you card for your team or a simple email or Zoom call (as with almost everything these days), it's all about the thought and sincerity.
