Here are just a few of the health hazards of obsessing over your physical attributes:

  • The emergence of a clinical eating disorder

  • Depression

  • Disfigurement of the body

  • Body Development Dysmorphic Personality Disorder

  • Significant distress or impairment in important areas of social, occupational, or other functioning

Nonetheless, many of these issues can generate even more severe challenges; eating disorders can lead to being severely unhealthy—even involving medical intervention or poses serious long-term health consequences; depression and anxiety could indeed result in escalating psychological health and wellbeing.
