Do they have the essential skills and experience to do the job?
This is the first thing you need to find out – and the easiest. Their CV and their references should be able to provide a good indication.
This is where it starts to get a little more complicated. Sure, the candidate may have the skills needed to do the job now – but will they be able to perform well over time?
In order to answer this question, it’s important to develop a basic understanding of their true nature. Are they introverted or extroverted? What motivates them? You have to understand your staff’s goals and how the position fits into their aspirations.

What does it mean to be the right team fit? It means the candidate’s aspirations align with the team’s aspirations. If you can find employees with the right skill set, the right desire to do the job long term, and whose true nature matches the nature of the work, then you’ll have a workforce ready to commit themselves wholly to the job.
This is because when their desires match the requirements of the work, they will find deep fulfillment and satisfaction in meeting those requirements. And who wouldn’t give 110% to something that is meeting their deepest inner need?
